als Erinnerung: am Freitag, 28.4.2023, findet der Vortrag von Herrn Łukasz Sommer (Warschau) zum Thema “Finno-Ugric, Baltic, Nordic? A story of Estonian identities” um 10:15 Uhr im Raum 316 / Carl-Zeiß-Straße 3 statt (auch hybrid per Zoom übertragen).

My lecture is a brief overview of identity-building in Estonia, from the 19th-century national movement to the recent nation-branding strategies. I will start with the more generic aspects of Estonian self-definition, and then move on towards the more locally specific ones. These often involve references to broader regional and cultural frameworks, such as “the Baltic States”, “the Finno-Ugric family” or “the Nordic region”.

Der Vortrag findet im Rahmen des Blockseminars (mit Exkursion) Russisches in Estland statt, richtet sich aber an alle Interessierten.
