Liebe Alle,

hiermit möchte ich Euch / Sie herzlich zu unserer Podiumsdiskussion 
"Georgien nach den Parlamentswahlen im Oktober 2024" (Georgia after the 
parliamentary elections) am nächsten Montag (9. Dezember) von 14.00 Uhr 
bis 15.30 Uhr im Kleinen Sitzungssaal der Rosensäle, Fürstengraben 27, 
einladen.

Mit uns wird u.a. der renomierte Süd- und Osteuropaexperte Stefan 
Meister von der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Auswärtige Politik (DGAP) 
diskutieren. Unten finden Sie eine genauere Beschreibung. Die Teilnahme 
ist kostenlos und erfordert keine Anmeldung. Sie können gern 
interessierte Mitstudierende und KollegInnen mitbringen. Wir freuen uns 
auf eine rege Diskussion zu einem hochaktuellen Thema.

  *Roundtable: Georgia after the parliamentary elections*

This round table will discuss the post-election situation in Georgia, a 
new EU candidate country that aims to join the EU but has recently found 
itself caught in the crossfire of EU-Russia
geopolitical competition and is experiencing an authoritarian and 
EU-skeptic backlash. The round table will explore the country's 
post-election trajectory, focusing on its political
landscape, current constitutional crisis, democratic resilience, and EU 
integration. Key topics include the impact of the controversial "foreign 
agents" law, post-election political tensions on
Georgia's scientific collaboration and its relations with European 
institutions. The event aims to provide a nuanced understanding of 
Georgia's evolving relationship with the EU and its member countries in 
this critical period.
