[SlawKaus] Networking Event BASEES (Digital) Media and Culture Study Group

Dear colleagues,

On 11 June 2024, BASEES (Digital) Media and Culture Study Group and  
the Institute for Eastern European Studies at Freie University will  
jointly host a networking event for researchers working on Central  
Asia, Central, Eastern and Southern Europe, and the Caucasus. The  
focus will be on identifying topics for collaborations with UK-based  
researchers in post-Brexit environment, including funding  
opportunities, research networks and organisations, and essentials of  
the UK research culture (e.g., REF context, ‘de-colonisation’, and so  
on).

The event will include presentations by visiting researchers—Galina  
Miazhevich (Cardiff University) and Vlad Strukov (Leeds  
University)—who will share their experience of working in the UK and  
collaborating with colleagues in Germany (for example, submitting  
joint funding applications). The event will also include networking  
activities, giving the participants an opportunity to meet colleagues  
and discuss potential research projects.

The one-day event (10am to 3 pm) event is free to attend but  
registration is required.  Please send an Email to

briefly the research topics you are interested in.
